Rangjung Yeshe Gomde is also a retreat place.
Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche´s eldest son, Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche, had a wish to purchase a place
for doing retreats in Denmark. Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche´s vision is of a place where many
teachers will come to instruct and where people in the West can apply the teachings in
retreat. It consists of forty-seven acres of a beautiful varied landscape with many old fruit trees, and various small lakes and rolling hills. The land has not been cultivated for years so it appears wild and natural. The north eastern direction gives a panoramic view over the sea, which is located only half a mile from the land. In all directions the sky appears as a natural companion to the landscape.
Due to the numerous fruit trees Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche chose to call the place the Fruit Land. Its local name is Tornbjerggaard, Thorn Mountain Farm. According to tradition, a spiritual site is named in an auspicious way. Rinpoche chose Rangjung Yeshe Gomdé, the Retreat Land of Self-Existing Wakefulness. It is Rinpoche´s wish that many people in the West will come and live on the land or use the place for retreats.
