Gomde lies in a beautiful and peaceful part of the Danish countryside, on Helgenæs in Jutland, among undulating hills with wild deer and near the sea - in deeply authentic Denmark.
It is not hard to get here and the ways are many - over water, by land or air.
Here's some help for your journey.
The simple and direct:
Airplanes land at the local airport (AAR www.aar.dk) from Copenhagen, London, Oslo, Stockholm, Barcelona, Gothenborg, and Alicante. Take a 45 min taxi ride directly to Gomde.
From Copenhagen on Sealand:
By bus: take the direct 888 (www.abildskou.dk) from Copenhagen to Rønde, approx 45 min. At Rønde you transfer to the Helgenæs bus: 361 (www.midttrafik.dk).
By train: There is a direct train from Copenhagen airport (passing through the main Copenhagen train station). Take a ticket on the Intercity train (www.dsb.dk) to Aarhus and continue by bus or taxi. These trains leave every half hour.
In car: drive to Odden and get on the ferry to Ebeltoft. Reserve place on www.molslinien.dk and continue towards Knebel and on to Esby on Helgenæs (see map).
By air: take the domestic flight from Copenhagen/Kastrup Airport (CPH) to Aarhus airport (aka Tirstrup / AAR). The taxis are usually waiting outside. Otherwise call one of these: Taxa 86 377 377 / 86 344 545 /86 340 100. Sometimes it could be useful to order one in advance.
From Aarhus on Jutland:
By bus: take one of these 120, 121,122,123 (www.midttrafik.dk) to Rønde. The Aarhus bus station is a 5 min. walk from the train station’s main exit. Just turn right when you walk out.
At Rønde you transfer to the Helgenæs bus: 361 (www.midttrafik.dk).
The bus trip takes from Rønde about 50 minutes through the beautiful Helgenæs landscape.
Get off just after Esby (ask the driver).
As you get off the bus, walk up the gravel road that leads you to the Gomde buddhafield.
